CIRCLE OF SISTERHOOD
Our Philanthropy
The members of The Panhellenic Association at the University of Miami hold philanthropy very close to our hearts. Our community is pleased to continue our partnership with Circle of Sisterhood, and we are proud to be making a difference in the lives of many. To get involved and learn more about Circle of Sisterhood, check out some facts and help donate, information is listed below. Also keep scrolling to see our chapters' individual philanthropies!
SCHOOL BUILDING
We are currently raising money to send Panhellenic women to a less fortunate country to build a school! During their trip, they will be immersing themselves in the culture by living with host families. At the end of the week long trek, we will have built a brand new school for a community. As a result, children (especially girls) will have a safely-built school to go to that they would not otherwise have. We are so excited about this opportunity to share our love for education and friendship with others.
PANHELLENIC PRIDE
Every fall semester we have a Panhellenic Pride Week where the entire Panhellenic community comes together to raise money for Circle of Sisterhood through fun bake sales, dance competitions, free workout classes, compliment grams, and more! We work to strengthen our intersorority relations through exciting fundraising events. The Panhellenic Pride Week of 2021 is yet to be announced, but come help raise money for Circle of Sisterhood when it is!
The semester of Fall 2021 has a lot of surprises in store! We will be hosting many exciting fundraisers for Circle of Sisterhood, look out for more information coming soon!
THE FACTS
Why it matters:
4 million women and girls are sold in slavery every year, the majority into sex slavery.
Women do 2/3 of the world's work yet they earn only 5% of the income and own only 1% of the world's land
More than 60 million girls under 18 are married; many to men who are twice their age.
1 in 5 girls in developing countries who enroll in primary school never finish.

WHAT YOUR DONATION MEANS
$0.24 = NOTEBOOK AND A PENCIL
an essential part of a girl's schooling.
$3.30 = A NUTRITIOUS NOON MEAL
often the only food children receive during the day that is essential to students' learning, and crucial for sustenance considering they sometimes have to walk 3 miles in hot weather to and from school.
$7.00 = SET OF TEXTBOOKS
for a girl to call her own.
$29.00 = A SCHOOL UNIFORM
so a girl can confidently enter school. For some girls, who may have one shirt and shoes that are taped together, a school uniform can significantly boost her confidence and inspire her to achieve.
$53.00 = SCHOOL FOR ONE YEAR
equates to sending a girl in some parts of the developing world to school for one year with everything she needs to be successful – supplies, uniform, tuition and lunch every day.
“If a girl follows the path laid down by poverty, she’ll leave school and enter marriage. As a girl mother, an unskilled worker, and an uneducated citizen, she’ll miss out on the opportunity to reach her full human potential.
And each individual tragedy, multiplied by millions of girls, will contribute to a much larger downward spiral for her nation and the world.”

CHAPTER PHILANTHROPIES
Each individual chapter has at least one philanthropy that is important to them. Every spring and fall, each sorority hosts events to raise money for their philanthropies. However, we also have a Panhellenic-wide charity that we support: Circle of Sisterhood (COS). Whether it’s hosting a bake sale, a yoga class, or a restaurant fundraiser, every sorority contributes equally in raising money for COS.
